ATTENTION DIABETICS: NEW WIRELESS PUMP!

I received this brochure in the mail. I guess as soon as you are diagnosed with something the hospital sends out your name to every company they can profit from. But, really, I don't get that much mail. It was just another "newsletter" that was nothing but a couple of stories and A TON of ad. So i flipped through it and my eye caught this little story. It was for this amazing insulin pump that was completely wireless. It is called The Omnipod and what it does is basically that it is an insulin pump that instead of the reservoir being in the pump it is a disposable little bubble directly on the injection site that you fill with up to 200 units of insulin. it comes complete with non-replaceable batteries and automatic insertion (seen in most Medtronic infusion sites). The base, which most of you would call the pump but I don't think that that name fits, is a PDA-like device called a Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM) is just like a normal insulin pump only there are no wires! I am not for certain the price of a revolutionary product like this, but you can click here.

That thing is so cool! Ya know, every time they come up with new stuff like this it means they're closer to a cure. I hope I live long enough to see that happen!
